その一つがALT(外国語指導助手)の活用です。

Fujieda City is like my second city. I live in a nearby city but I have been working here for 9 years. My children are studying in one of Fujieda’s private high schools. They also attend their soccer training here.

The city has been part of our everyday life! I get to know more about Fujieda and it’s people especially my co-workers and  the students. The people are very heartwarming and cheerful.   It’s a lovely place.

As a city ALT, I feel proud that I’m part of Fujieda community.  It’s very close to my heart that’s why I love Fujieda!

Teaching English has been one of the most rewarding experiences for me. I learned a lot of things about Japan and met a lot of interesting people. I like kids and I am happy to know that I am a part of their life in an important stage as they are growing and learning. Because of that, I always strive to do my best to help the students.

Hi, I’m from the Philippines and I have been living in Fujieda City for more than twenty years now.

Teaching as an ALT in this city I have heard students get discouraged and say things such as: “ I don’t get it. “ or  “This is so hard.” in the classrooms. As teachers we should try to show them their potential and find out what works for them to learn best. The feeling I get when these students change those statements around and into, “ I did it. I can do it. “, is absolutely priceless. This motivates me to be the best teacher I can be for myself, my school and my dear students .

Coming to live in Japan, this is my first time living away from my family home in Ireland, so I anticipated many interesting challenges that come with getting used to moving to a different country. Luckily, I've found that the people of Fujieda are very warm and welcoming. I feel like in Fujieda, there is a great sense of community. Going forward, I want to bring that feeling with me, wherever I go.

We have a lot of great English events in Fujieda. We're lucky here! We have events involving international cooking, international sports as well as a fun and scary Halloween Party, a great summer camp adventure and we'll be hosting a Christmas event, too. They're a lot fun and it's always nice to see the students enjoying themselves while using their English skills!

For a long time, I’ve been someone that’s loved to read and write, but more recently, I’ve been someone who has enjoyed learning languages – French and Japanese specifically – and it’s really interesting teaching English as a foreign language and it's great to see so many students are enthusiastic about learning another language.

Do you like speaking English? I want everyone to enjoy English, but I know it's tough sometimes. I find speaking Japanese tough, too. That's okay though - it's important we let ourselves make mistakes! We can learn more from mistakes than being right the first time. The more mistakes we make, the more we can learn! Let's improve our communication skills together, and then we can all understand each other better.

I also want to help the students of Fujieda build confidence, and learn communication skills through fun English activities.

I consider myself very fortunate to have the opportunity to be part of Fujieda’s comprehensive English program, where students are able to cross cultural borders and begin to discover the much larger world beyond their home soil. Education for me is a passion and making a genuine connection with students is truly a worthwhile endeavour. I hope to continue to grow as an educator and inspire my students the way I was inspired.
